The breast reconstruction after mastectomy in significantly obese women leads to potential complications when compared to normal and overweight patients. Significantly obese doesn't mean too much weight but those who are with a BMI greater than 35 or 40 are considered to be very obese. Experts recommend women to undergo breast reconstruction can be done after losing weight.

Common Complications
a. Fluid collections and infection at the re constructive area and the flap door site.
b. Deformity and the weakness of the abdominal wall (when the flap was harvested from the abdominal area) such as hernia and bulge were common in the obese.
