A recent study has shown that Intensity modulated radiation treatment (IMRT) for early breast cancer patients, soon after lumpectomy has been proven to be safe and effective in a recent trial.

Study Findings
a. The study was conducted on 75 patients.
b. IMRT treatment is safely done within 4 weeks by increasing the daily dose of radiation.
c. There are no significant adverse effects with increased dose of radiation.
d. Moreover, there is no big difference between the outcome of IMRT and general radiation therapy ( general radiation therapy takes 6 to 7 weeks ) .
e. IMRT has substantially reduced the time taken for the procedure, with effective results.
