I injected Aquamid about 5 years ago for cheek augmentation. 1 year after that allergy in its worse condition appeared and made my cheeks swell to their triple size with lots of pain and tinglling and one day my right cheek opened on its own to release some of the material out. Since then, I have been trying three different plastic surgeons to get rid of them; but it never happened. Everyone of them could get a little using nomee injection and a needle. Has anyone heard of a way to get aquamid out of body without using a knife and leaving a scar on face? Anything perhaps to dissolve the material and make them more catchable with needle?

I don't know where you had Aquamid injected, but have you contacted the provider who did the work? That should be your first step. Otherwise, I would contact the company and have your PS work with them. Check out this link:
http://www.aquamid.com/Public-Site/P...complication/# Aquamid has been used in cosmetic applications for over a decade. The results are permanent, yet reportedly reversible with dilution and aspiration. It is quite possible that your Aquamid was not injected under sterile conditions. Some physicians are just learning that they need to take the same sterile precautions with injections as they do with surgery. The Aquamid site has some very good information that should help your PS to successfully treat you. Wishing you the best...... |

I actually contacted the company...I never received an answer and I realy dont think a bacterial infection is involved in my case since 3 days before injection and 15 days after that I have been taking 500 Mlg cephalexin and I did not have any problem for 3 years other than occational itching on the spots! Plus, I got the same injection by a different and very well known surgeon in europe in my lips one year after cheek injection ; since I did not know the allergy possibility or... Guess what? just 8 months after that I had to empty my lips which was successful because those material was still kind of loose in my lips...something that nobody or a very few has answer for is:
Is there anything that can dilute and resolve long time injected aquamid? From what I experienced, just a nomee injection even in high amount is not helpful! |

Hello, I'm a Dainish girl that got Aquamid injectet 5 years ago in my lips and cheeks. Now suddenly my lips and cheeks are swolled with hard lumps.
Im intersted to hear if you found a treatment. Have you tried antibiotiks or steriod-injections? I have been on an antibiotichs for nearly a month, but its only getting worse. My doctor will try with steorid in a couple of days. The product Aquamid is sold by a danish company. There have been other danish girls with seriously problems. Some had to have surgery to get the aquamid out. The Company Contura says that they never heard about late complications from Aqaumid. but its not true.... there must be many other out there. I hope Aquamid will be taken off the beaty market because it ruins people lives and there is no way back. No safety-net but surgery and scarring. |

Again, for those of you with Aquamid complications, I urge you to contact the manufacturer directly for information. I personally would not go near this product......too many problems with it as several of you have experienced.

I tried, but there is no help to get from Contura. They will never admit to anything else but an bacteriel infektion.
Mine is for sure not an infection ccaused by bacterias....I've been on antibiotichs for 5 month and it does not get better. Only steroids seems to brake the chain of inflammation and stops the granulomas from getting to big. This stuf is about to get aproval for the amerian beautymarket...I think it very sad. |
