Hey All:
Anyone considering Radiesse. The manufacturer does not recommend it for injections in the lips. Go to their website. I have seen results in a woman's lips that was injected by a PS and the results were horrible! Her lips looked lumpy and very unnatural. It is recommended for other areas on the face and can last up to 12 months. Poisynivy |

Radiesse is long lasting, but is not good for lips as it is composed of calcium hydroxylapetite,m a constituent found in bone, That's what makes it firmer. Hyaluronic acid fillers (natural fluid found in your joints) is more pliable and better suited for lips (makes them kissable!). As for longest lasting, I have found ArteFill lasts the longest and is best for deep folds or lines. You need an allergy test before using it though.

Artefill is a new FDA "approved" product designed as a filler but at this point in time,...only used for the nasel-labial fold ( smile lines ) It is supposed to last for years,...if not forever, but not enough time has passed for research purposes.
It is NOT recommended to the lip area so do not let anyone tell you differently at this point. There are some fillers that are appropriate for lips and others that are absolutely not. Your Dr. should know the difference |

Radiesse is the ONLY filler that I would ever use in my lips. I've had it a few times and it lasts for at least 2-3 years for me. It works perfectly in the lips ****WHEN IT IS INJECTED BY A COMPETENT, SKILLED DR.***** Radiesse has a bigger needle than other fillers and must be injected deeply and precisely; especially in the lip area. The doctors who falsely allege that Radiesse doesn't work well in the lips are simply not competent enough to be able to skillfully inject it in the lips. I've had a few really great experiences with radiesse in my lips when it was injected by skilled doctors. I had one horrible experience with a female doctor in irvine, CA who wasn't competent and left one extremely large lump on my lips because she didn't inject deeply or competently enough. That same female doctor also wrongly suggested radiess for my cheekbones when I didn't need it and she essentially messed my face up. I then went to see a doctor named Sid Mirrafati in Tustin CA who easily cut the lump out. (it actually wasn't painful since he numbed my lips and I felt no pain afterward and small lumps can be easily broken up with the injection needle) Dr. Mirrafati then injected more Radiesse to even out the rest of my face from where the female doctor had messed it up. From my experience, he is extremely skilled with Radiesse. I've used every other filler from fat, collagen, juvederm, sculptra, restalyn, etc.. and those - in my opinion - are a complete waste of money. Those fillers did not make nearly as much of a visible difference for me as Radiesse and they were barely visible for month or so. I'm no stranger to pain, but who wants to have their lips injected every few months? The lips are a painful area to have injected and can become bruised for at least 3-5 days after an injection, so why bother with the short-term, lighter fillers when Radiesse lasts for up to 5 years and is wonderful when deeply injected by a competent, skilled doctor? I wouldn't waste my money on any other filler because Radiesse is the only one that lasts long enough to bother with. Also, off the topic slightly, I know of a good doctor to receive botox at a great rate from and his name is Michael Lawton. He's located in Huntington Beach, CA. I don't work with or for either of those doctors, I just like to spread the word about good experiences because I've encountered more than a few too many highly incompetent doctors who should never be allowed to lay their hands on any patient. Even famous people with powerful connections - like Tara Reid - can manage to get butchered by an incompetent doctor, so the "little people" lol like us have got to spread the word when we find one of the few skilled cosmetic doctors in existence. Good luck to everyone and have fun with the fillers. =}
