Default when i had my midface lift

the surgeon didn't do anything about my eyes.
i'm 58 and reentering the dating scene after an absence of many years (am i crazy or what?)
finding out that here in LA, it isn't nearly enough to be height/weight appropriate. so, i'm trying to fix what i can without turning into a surgery addict.

there is a dr. in town that specializes in laser around the eyes. i'll probably get a consult from him even though he charges for his consults.

Hey Westsidegal:

No you are not crazy. As we age we are all in the same boat. Unfortunately our society places alot of value on appearances. I believe that we should do things for our own satisfaction. If it acheives a secondary gain, by getting more attention that is o.k. but should not be a goal. Sometimes the attention can be unwelcomed as I found out after breast augmentation. Men can get so strange! Yes, it is also easy to become a surgery addict. I would say chose your priorities and go from there. Then again when you are on the dating scene unfortunately the first impressions are visual. I beleive for men as well as women. Once you get past the initial visual, I say that what is more important is what is inside. When I was single, I dated many attractive men and once I got to know them, appearances where not enough. Good luck with your decisions, do your homework. I once made an impulsive decision and allowed my judgement to be clouded by a Dr's perceived reputation without doing my homework and boy was I sorry. Good Luck!

It was deeply discounted to 200.00 and my second session was free, but I had multiple other procedures done. My skin has improved greatly, but its likely due to a combination of the obagi products and the affirm. As I stated, I have no facial wrinkles, but my skin was looking dull and i had acne scars. It is completely clear. I don't even wear makeup anymore. I also had silk dermabrasion too. I'm sure it all helped. Anyway, there was zero downtime, and it wasn't painful. You can apply makeup immediately following the procedure, but this might vary according to your skin type. I am multiracial, white, native american and black, so I have naturally olive-tanned skin that is very resilient.

You are going to have to do better than that. Actually I have spoken to a few people who said that Fraxel was a waste of time and money, dito with Thermage. Not to mention pain, side effects and down time. Anyone who wants to look into any of these procedures should do their homework. Research, google, ask others who have personally experienced these procedures and their level of overall satisfaction, cost benefits etc. I personally work with Syneron, E-max, which is called the ReFirme, it was featured on the Rachel Ray show. Depending on what individuals wish to accomplish, you can get modest changes, but never anything like a surgical procedure. The effects are cummulative and continue over a period of four to six months. Recommended follow up treatments to maintain results are every six to nine months. Hopes this helps those for who it is intended.

Poison Ivy: I am very interested in ReFirme but worried about some of the Thermage and IPL stories I have read re: loss of fat beneath skin leading to sagging. Have you ever seen this problem with ReFirme? I know it is different technology but since it seems similar I want to look before I leap. Any insight you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i've recently heard the fat-loss stories too.
this is why, after two refirme treatments on my face and neck which were practically miraculous, i'm going to wait another few months before 'finishing up' with a final treatment on my jawline/jowls.
i also had refirme done twice on my 'batwing/crepey upper arms, and have hardly seen any results on them. very disappointing.

Hi! I'm new to this board. It is my understanding that it takes 3-6+ months after your last treatment to really see results. You have to remember that your body has to make new collegan, and that won't happen over night. That takes time. I'm sure you will be very happy with the results.

Default re fraxel wait time

a couple of years have passed since i had the fraxel, so the wait time isn't an issue. at no time after the 3 fraxel treatments did i see any but the most subtle results. i saw a much more dramatic result from one refirme trieatment than i did from the 3 fraxel treatments.

i've now had a total of 4 refirme treatments on my face and one ipl within the last 6 months or so. i've been VERY pleased with the results. i have not noticed any reduction of facial fat.

the technology of affirm CAP makes it more effective than the old fraxel but i am not sure about the advances of new fraxel. The new fraxel may be just as good.
Lets face it they are both highly sophisticated units that perform fractional resurfacing and wont put you down like co2 or erbium. They are both good as are profractional and all the others

Default fraxel vs. refirm

fwiw, even the results that they are showing on the fraxel website don't compare with the results that i, personally, have achieved on both face and neck with a combination of refirme and one ipl treatment at much less cost.

additionally, the pain of the fraxel was much greater and, the refirme TRULY has NO downtime, whereas the fraxel had me puffed up, swollen, and shedding skin for about a week.

i know this question is old, but will answer anyway because i LOVE the fraxell laser! had 2 sessions & saw results immediately after 1st one & had 2nd one a month later~amazing results w/just 2. my skin looked like it was brand new.i took a pain pill& still felt the laser but it wasnt too bad. its now 3yrs later& skin still looks good but im having 1session of affirm in a week. i will take b4 & after pics & post them. best $ i have spent. dont waste your time on anything less.
