Default Smartlipo Recovery Time

I am getting smartlipo done mid may. I am in pretty good shape im 30 yrs old 5'4 ft and weigh 110 pounds but have some areas on my inner thighs and lower stomach id like to get rid of. It is summer coming up, do you think it is possible that I would be able to wear a bathing suit 6-8 weeks later?

Sharryn,
Everyone heals differently, but given your age, I would think you will have no problem wearing a bathing suit after 6 weeks. Your bruising will be gone, and most if not all your swelling will be gone. Just remember, you need to take care of yourself after your procedure. Rest, take your meds and drink lots of water. That is really the key to a fast recovery.

Hi ladies-
Great to hear of the many positive comments about the VCenter as I'm thinking of having smartlipo done there in the next month. With the weather getting nicer, I thought "the sooner the better", but after reading your comments about the bruising and the "garment"(!), I'd love your feedback as to whether you think I may want to reschedule til fall or winter.
Do you think I'll be able to wear shorts or the "skimpier" (not pants and sweaters!) clothes within the month, and even my bathing suit in 4-6 weeks and look at least normal, if not better than normal?!
Also, have any of you experienced a firming of your skin -- as this is a big plus for me since my thighs seem to be really losing their firmness.
I'd also appreciate any before and after pics that any of you would be willing to share. Thanks so much!

Dear pfc689,

Welcome, I know your concern about the summer. You do wear the compression garment for the first 4 weeks all the time and then the next 4 weeks 1/2 days. I am in the tightening time right now, can't wait. I have had great results in how much I have lost and I do look alot smaller. When were you going in May.

P.S> What part of Chicago are you from? I was born and raised in IL, still miss it. My son and I still take trips for Portillos and Caputo's

Default Smart Lipo recovery process

Hello to everybody looking for some answers,

Had the SmartLipo done exact a week ago: lower and upper abdomen and love handles.
Let me tell you something: there are a loooot of things you may want to consider before deciding on this surgery!
Schedule your intervention on Friday because you need at least two days to figure out what is going on with you.

I have a small frame body and normal weight, however, I felt very dizzy and hardly able to drive a car for about 5 days after my surgery.
You cannot get up and sit down as fast as you want and you walk a bit funny for few days. The pain you feel in your mid section is similar with having a 1000 abs done and your face will look tired and with dark circles under your eyes. So…if you are planning a party or an important meeting at work, schedule your surgery accordingly.

The most inconvenient part for me is the fact that I HAVE TO GO to work and I don’t want to share with anybody there my most recent experience and tell them about what is really going one. Therefore, you’ll have to adapt your work attire as best as you can but remember, you are wearing a horrible compression garment that makes you look bigger than ever.

My solution to this: I’ve purchased several different body garments like “waist shaping” from the nearest mall (you may try TJ max as well, is half the price) so I could wear it under my suits at work, under my shorts and T Shirt while I work out (walking is recommended second day after surgery) and so on.
Plus, I cannot wear the same compression garment for more than a day and I also have to get a clean one when I go to bed. Thus, you might also want to think about purchasing several such compression garments.

I can see plenty of changes on my body already and the bruises are going away super fast because I’m using a Vit. K cream specially made for healing bruises. Still feel the pain in my middle section and is still painful when I touch my skin on the abs or love handles.

Please talk to you Dr and insist very careful on the area you want him to treat! My dr. was very superficial on the love handles area and I’m very disappointed with the result. While having my first consultation after the surgery, he mentioned something about applying the laser again after two months. Hopefully, this would be done as part of my initial payment (this surgery is very expensive) and I’ll not have to pay him again.

If you leave in Carolina or Virginia areas, the only Dr. certified by the board to do this procedure, as of August 2007, is Dr. Paul C. Drago at Genesis. He claims making over 20,000 operations.

Good luck and let me know if you have questions.

Luisa

Luisa,
where did you get the Vit. K cream at? I go in Friday, and anything to help would be great.

I am almost 1 month postop and look awful!!! My skin is still lumpy and loose. How is everyone else healing? I know it said it could take 3 months to see a difference, but I am starting to really worry. Help!!

Kiwi no need to panic. Smartlipo will take you through many phases of healing. It takes lots and lots of time for the muscle to readhere back to the remaing fat and the fat back to the skin. You simply have to have a lot of patience with this procedure. It is not a quick fix by any means. You will have good days and then really ugly ones so just keep in mind the end result. Depending upon your age and the amount you had removed it could take up to 6 months to start looking really good. Be sure you are following your doctors orders and keep that compression garment on!!! Take care. rcraig

Thx. The doctor told me to stop with the compression garment after 10 days, but i wore it for over 3 weeks. Just took it off. Should I keep wearing it after all this time? How long has it been since you had it done?
