Default Smartlipo or tummy tuck?

I'm a 57, not fat anywhere except my upper, lower abdomen and love handle. I wonder should I do a Smartlipo or a tummy tuck?
I am concerned about costs, recovery time, skin elasticity and type of anesthesia. Please advice. Thanks

Hi reiziger, I am 51 and had the same concerns. I am glad that I chose to do the lipo prior to thinking about a tummy tuck. I really did not want the large scar, that a tummy tuck leaves. I can say that my tummy does not look like a 20 year olds, but I am thrilled with the results. Smart lipo is the only way to go in my opinion because it aids in the tightening of the skin. All of the doctors I saw said that I would have to have lipo anyway, even if I chose the tummy tuck. I wish you the best of luck with your decision.

Hi vwbug,
Thanks for the reply. I'm worried that after Smartlipo my abdomen skin would fold up like an accordion
Also I live in a tropical climate so it may be too hot to wear the garment 24/7

I just wonder why most of you chose to do smartlipo instead of tummy tuck. I worried about my skin will not shrink and will fold up at the abdomen area after I have smartlipo. That would look bad!

a good liposurgeon should have multiple modalities available for office based lipo ie power assisted lipo, smart lipo and possibly ultrasonic.
We perform the first two on almost all patient to obtain maximum fat debulking and then lipolysis and skin tightening with the laser. This way gen anesthesia is avoided and recovery is much quicker
