You're going to hear a variation of answers on this one but for me, I found that a snug fit that just borders the line of disomfort is where it needs to be. I had a long line compression garment that went below the knees to my rib cage so there was no 'adjusting' it. It felt like a gurdle that was 2 sizes too small. Lines on the skin are normal...deal with it for two weeks as best as you can.

drinking and keeping urself hydrated helps eliminate the excess fluid from the proceedure. It 'assists' the garment in its job. That whole 'garment' recovery process was just the absoulte WORST for me. Mine was so tight it actually caused me to wake up choking one night because it was restricting my breathing so badly. It was awful. So, I endend up not closing the top two hooks on either side along my rib cage at night for the duration after that scare.

I've read a lot about compression garments. it's been 5 /12 weeks since my smart lipo procedure. How long should I really wear it? I'm currently wearing a Flexees (which is like a Spanx). I did wear the garment the DR. gave me for the first 4 weeks. There is still some swelling in a couple of areas. One post I read said that wearing a garment for over 3 weeks can actually make the healing process longer and have the swelling remain. Any thoughts?

All I know is I HATED that whole garment thing and couldn't wait to take it off. I had smart lipo done twice in the same areas (abdominals) 8 months apart. The first time I wore it for 1st week 24/7, 2nd and 3rd week only at night. Second time I didn't even do the 3rd week at night because I HATED IT!! Saw no difference in results. I say...make sure you do the first two weeks, then what ever you can tolerate from there.

Thank you for the reply. I know how you feel. I did wear the surgical compression garment for 5 weeks. I wore a Flexee (kind of like a spanx) for 12 intervals for another week 1/2, usually when I slept. I still have some swelling but it's done down greatly. I can't wait for the rest to go.

I neglected to mention that of course I followed up with a 'flexee' type garment for several weeks there after but the official 'body garment' was short lived because it was that horribly tight on me and was cutting off my circulation in areas.
