Complications are very unfortunate, but occur here in the US and abroad.

This is a very unfortunate story but proves that you can never do enough research/homework prior to the decision making process (see Kanye West's mothers story, sadly even someone with a lot of resources can overlook the credentials and background of a physician here in the US). When traveling abroad, a big challenge which is usually looked over due to the compelling price and fancy websites, is the doctor and facility credentials. Always be sure to verify board certification in the country and what hospital affiliations the doctor has. Request his CV. Has the anesthesiologist worked with the physician for a long time? Is the work being done at a hospital or clinic? What is their accreditation?

There is always risk when undergoing any type of medical procedure..but you can always limit and mitigate bad outcomes by asking for more information and asking questions. Regardless of whether you may feel uncomfortable or not, it s your choice and your right to know.

Good luck!

Here is a sad story that occurred recently, not to far from where I live...it is a reminder that plastic surgery is in fact a medical procedure and not to be taken lightly.

It also reminds us that tragedies occur here in the US, just as they do abroad.

Another reason to do as much research as possible.
