Hi,
I'm a mother of 3. My last child was born 10 years ago. I gained alot of weight. I have lost down to about 143lbs but my PS wants me to lose 10 to 20 more. I don't know how. My only problem area is my stomache which hangs over my pants. I get so depressed when I go shopping for clothes. I finally got the money to have a tummy tuck and I would appreciate any and all info about after the surgery and what to expect. Any and all info would be appreciated. ![]() |

Hey Poco:
I know that it sounds discouraging to lose another 10-20 lbs, but it will give you the best results. If you finally have the money, then use that as a motivation to get to where your PS wants you weight wise. Did he/she says whether they would also recommend any kind of lipo in conjunction with your tummy tuck? I have seen several women who do have tummy tucks, then end up with what they call "dog ears" on either side of the waist/hip area, secondary to the incision. Be sure to do alot of research before you rush into an impulse decision. The holidays are coming up and you do not want to be recovering from surgery during this time. You should consult a nutritionist to help you modify your diet to lose the 10-20lbs. If you do not already exercise, consider a form of cardio activity to help you burn, additional calories. You did not mention yur age or height. Be absolutely sure you are done with having children, it would be a waste of time until you are ready. Good luck with your decision. Poisynivy |

Poco - Welcome to plasmetic, you will find this site to be a wealth of information and very supportive.
Poisynivy is one of the most knowledgeable members here, she's in the healthcare/medispa field and always has good information and advice. It seems to me that her suggestion of seeing a nutritionist is a really good idea. If you can find a good one, that person could really help you reach your weight goal. And she's right about making sure you're finished with childbearing before having a TT. What works for me is keeping a food diary. When I have to write down every single morsel that passes my lips, I really watch what I eat. The diary also helps me keep a balanced diet with the right amount of protein on a daily basis. I walk (fast) for one hour daily, taking Sunday off. The tried-and-true regimen of proper nutrition plus exercise, that's the ticket! The liposuction board here is really active and you'll find lots of interesting information there. I sense depression in your post. When I feel down about my weight and shape, I find setting goals and working them helps me feel better. Again, welcome and good luck. |

Thanks for the replys. I am 34 years old and im about 5'6. I weigh 143-145lbs. I go to the gym for cardio and I do try to watch what I eat. My problem is I take alot of depression meds and they make me hungry at night real bad. Two of the meds I'm on make you gain weight. My doctor feels I should stay on them because it is helping my depression. Tell me what it is like after the surgery and you come home. What supplies do I need. What is the pain and healing time like? How bad is the scar really going to be? Please tell me all you can. Thanks ladies!!!
