A recent research has claimed to have found the secret of the perfect smile. This research, led by Nicholas Davisof Southern California, is published in the journal Dental Clinics of North America.

Research Findings
a. Researchers took into account the size and width, curve, color and shape of all the teeth and the overall width of the mouth.
b. They felt that bright white should be avoided for teeth.
c. They suggested that the color of the teeth should match the whites of the eyes.
d. According to this research, the ideal width of a smile should not be less than half the width of the face.
e. Both upper and lower lips should be symmetrical to each side of the mid-line of the face.
f. The upper row of teeth should be dominant.
g. Very little of the bottom row of teeth should be seen.
h. All the teeth on display should be straight with no signs of restoration work.
i. The teeth should reduce in size from front to back.
j. The teeth on either side of the central teeth should be 61.8 per cent the size of the bigger teeth.
k. The next teeth after that should be 61.8 per cent of the teeth next to the central one.
l. The width of the central teeth should be 80 per cent of their height.
m. Gums should not show when a person smiles.
