This innovative yoga technique, developed by Bikram Choudhury, has 26 hatha yoga poses that are done in a heated room. Today thousands are Bikram Yoga enthusiasts and even celebrities are queuing up to join the classes.

Highlights of Bikram Yoga
a. This is a kind of yoga that is done in a sauna-like room.
b. One session is for 90 minutes.
c. It gives relief from muscles and joints ache.
d. It strengthens the back and improves flexibility.
e. It can apparently prevent illness and injury by balancing and strengthening the body.
f. It has an incredible rejuvenating effect on the entire body.
g. The heated environment warms up the muscles, which prevents injury and allows a deeper work-out.
h. It also has a cleansing effect on the body and flushes out the toxins.
i. Each session begins with the Pranayama (Standing Deep Breathing) series which is done for about five minutes.
j. It also has standing poses and floor poses.
k. It is highly effective.

Preparations
a. Take a towel along since there will be a lot of sweating.
b. A yoga mat is a must.
c. It will be prudent to carry a bottle of drinking water.
d. Drink up to two litres of water 30 minutes before a Bikram class.
e. Try not to eat for a couple of hours before class.
f. Wear light, fitted exercise wear.
g. Avoid make up.

Cost
$20 for unlimited classes during a ten-day trial period
$18 a class after the trial period

Disadvantage
a. This is not recommended for children under 14 years of age.
b. Pregnant women, people on medication and those who suffer from any specific injuries or illnesses should consult a doctor before starting this program.
