A new research study headed by Dr.Robert Rutledge published in Elsevier's International Journal of Surgery, has found that mini gastric bypass is safe over more invasive bypass surgery-Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RNY). These surgeries are performed on super obese.
Study Findings
a. Mini-bypass surgery has less post operative complication compared to RNY surgery.
b. The complications and hospitalization rates for RNY is 20% per year. Contrary to this Mini-bypass has much lower hospitalization rates after surgery.
c. Mini-bypass is less expensive compared to RNY surgery.
