There is more bad news for overweight people. They now have to deal with bad breadth as well. According to researchers from Tel Aviv University obesity can cause bad breath. This research led by breath expert Prof. Mel Rosenberg from the Department of Human Microbiology and The Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine, Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, was published in the Journal of Dental Research in October 2007.

Highlights of the study
a. Researchers studied samples from 88 adults of varying weights and heights.
b. They were asked by graduate student Tsachi Knaan, a co-author in the study, whether their breath odor could be tested and questions asked about their daily habits while they were in a clinic for a regular check up.
c. From this survey it was found that overweight patients were more likely to have bad breath.
d. However, there is no scientific evidence about the reason behind this fact yet.
e. But researchers concluded that factors like diet that promotes dry mouth are to blame.
