Fake cosmetic injectable treatments taking toll of public health

About 5% of all cosmetic injectable treatments is USA are counterfeit, going by the opinion of the medical experts. Using fake medicines has even led to problems like serious illness to death in many cases. Counterfeit Botox, fake Restylane and other knock-off wrinkle fillers are a few to mention here. Few of them are worthless treatments conducted in dubious settings, like private homes etc. Unlike, cancer or HIV treatments consumers are not viewing cosmetic treatments as serious and thus resorting for black market purchasing which is taking toll of their health. The Food and Drug Administration and law enforcement agencies, have stepped up action against counterfeiters, but the problem can only be solved with increased public awareness only.
