coppertone-sun-screen-lotion.jpgA lawsuit is filed in California, against the makers of five major sunscreens, including Coppertone, Banana Boat, Hawaiian Tropic, Neutrogena and Bullfrog. The charges were that manufacturers were indulging in false advertising and fraudulent claims regarding the efficacy of these sunscreen lotions. Dermatologists feel that people are expecting too much from a sunscreen lotion and they feel it blocks UV rays to some extent only. UVA and UVB are two types of rays in sunlight causing skin cancer and premature aging of the skin subsequently. Dermatologists recommend wearing a broad-brimmed hat, long-sleeved shirt, long pants and UV-light-blocking sunglasses, and try to stay in the shade between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun is most intense.
