Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) the undisputed leader of beauty industry, will launch the SIAscope (SIA: Spectrophotometric Intracutaneous Analysis) skin imaging technology device from Astron Clinica Ltd at Olay counters in this year. This is the first time, retail consumers will be able to observe what is happening beneath the surface of their skin, and learn how their skin's outward appearance is directly affected. Using the SIAscope is a non-invasive technique where the handheld SIAscope is placed in contact with the skin's surface. The machine uses uses visible and infrared light combined with a sophisticated mathematical model of the physics of light transport, within the skin to map the condition and distribution of melanin, haemoglobin and collagen. The SIAscop will be a great tool for cosmetic shoppers, who want to see what's beneath the surface of the skin.
