low-cost-less-invasive-plastic-surgery.jpgOut of the total number of plastic surgeries performed in US, there is a steady rise in minimally invasive cosmetic surgery procedures, with 8.4 million performed in the year 2005, as per the statistics published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

The minimally invasive procedures increased 13% over the previous year and 53% since 2000. This is because, Minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures are performed in an outpatient setting, do not call for general anesthesia, require little to no downtime and low costs compared to the more invasive cosmetic surgeries.

The top five minimally-invasive procedures this year and since 2000 are

a. Botox (3.8 million)
b. Chemical peel (1 million)
c. Microdermabrasion (840,000)
d. Laser hair removal (780,000)
e. Sclerotherapy – elimination of spider veins (590,000)
