cellphone-allergies.jpg There is bad news for cell phone users. It can cause serious skin allergies. Dermatologists say the nickel contained in some of the better models is to blame for this. In fact, this condition, called 'mobile phone dermatitis', has become so common that it has caught the attention of the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD).

Highlights of mobile phone dermatitis
a. This reaction usually happens when skin comes in contact with a phone's nickel-plated casing or buttons.
b. Patients develop rashes on their faces, usually on the cheek or ear, where the metal part of the phone comes into contact with the skin.
c. Patients suffer from a red rash, which often blisters and itches.
d. It is difficult to treat this condition and, at times, can become a life long problem even with treatment.
