fat-muscle-cells-smooth.jpg US researchers reported that stem cells taken out of human fat can be developed into smooth muscle cells. This helps in treating diseases of heart, gut and bladder. The cells developed from human fat have contracted and relaxed like smooth muscle cells. Dr. Larissa Rodriguez, Assistant Professor in Urology at the University of California, said that “fat tissue may prove reliable source of smooth muscle cells that can use to regenerate and repair damaged organs”. There have been other research which is being conducted by Cytori Therapeutics to test whether stem cells derived from fat can be used to regenerate breast tissue.
