Popular wrinkle filler Botox could be a new solution to help women get rid of period pain. During a women’s period the uterus contracts erratically and causes pain. Researchers believe that if Botox is injected into the uterus, it could relax the muscles in the region and relieve the pain. This belief would now be put to test by Sydney's Royal Hospital for Women. The hospital would enlist 20 women between the age group 18-55 years. Women, would be injected, with 100-200 IU’s of Botox, which would paralyze the lower part of the uterus for 12-14 weeks. If successful, it could be a sign of great relief, for all the millions of women suffering from period pain. Right now, there is no proper medication to treat this condition, other than temporary pain relievers.
