Botox a well known procedure for wrinkles is now being used on paralyzed people to help them walk again. Botox injections are given in the key spastic muscles of the arm and leg using a machine. Doctors at UT medical center have found that if botox can smooth out facial muscles it can smooth the trembling in legs, arms, and back muscles of people who are paralyzed. The treatment helps paralyzed patients walk again and patients have to take Botox injections every 10-12 weeks. It works well on stroke patients, who lost movement of arm or leg. The cost for 2 bottles of botox is aroud $800. The number of injections required is decided by doctors and some major insurance companies cover the cost of the treatment.
