Botox the well known wrinkle filler is now found to be very useful in curing constipation. These findings were revealed by Italian researchers in the November edition of American Journal of Gastroenterology.

Procedure Highlights
a. Botox relieves the main cause of constipation, the inappropriate contraction of pelvic floor muscles.
b. A trial study conducted on 24 patients, for a period of 2 months has showed positive results, in 19 patients.
c. The botox injections were administered on both sides of the puborectalis muscle under ultrasonographic guidance
d. The treatment is considered safe and effective, however experts are unsure on how long the results last.
