This soaring trend is making it possible for some health clinics to team up with mobile companies. Mobile companies Cingular wireless, Verizon wireless and Sprint Nextel corp have tied up with Atkins, Weight Watchers and South Beach Diet.

Program Highlights
a. Nokia has tied up with VTT technical research centre of Finland and is offering a free fitness-software application for its S60 smart phones. The software helps users to enter their weight and other health related information, which then shows graphs with their weight history.
b. Sprint Nextel is offering a software called MyFoodPhone, where in the customer snaps pictures of their meal and sends them to an expert for review. They then get one-minute diet and nutrition video clips. The cost of the service is $9.99 a month.
c. Cingular wireless is offering a similar software which lets the users find out carbohydrate counts on various foods. The cost of the service is $9.99 / month.
d. Verizon Wireless, is offering similar health related news services for a small fee of $1.99 - $2.99 / month

One major drawback of the idea is that one may not get accurate results by getting the instructions through a cell phone.
