Prevelle Silk, a new line of lidocaine containing hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration of the United States. This was announced by Mentor Corporation who is likely to look after this product's global marketing and distribution. This is the first in the new line of HA dermal fillers that Mentor is developing together with Genzyme Corporation

a. This is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel.
b. It contains the local anesthetic lidocaine.
c. This is meant for injection into the facial skin for the treatment of moderate to severe facial lines, folds and wrinkles.
d. It is injected into the mid to deep dermis.
e. There are hardly any adverse reactions.
f. Clinical studies have proved that the administration of this product is less painful compared to another HA product that did not contain lidocaine.

Disadvantage
Some patients might experience temporary swelling, pain, tenderness, redness, and lumps on the injection site.
