Dermik Laboratories has disclosed the results of trial study of Sculptra(R) (injectable poly-L-lactic acid), which is meant for reducing nasolabial fold wrinkles by stimulating increase in dermal thickness. In trial study to asses the efficacy of this product, a total of 233 patient were given either Sculptr(R) or Collagen for correction of nasolabial fold wrinkles.

Study Revelations
a. The outcome of Sculptra(R) lasts longer than that of CosmoPlast(TM)(1) Collagen Implant, human-based collagen, in the treatment of nasolabial fold wrinkles.
b. Sculptra(R) effectively works on the patient and the results last for 13 months and where as CosmoPlast(TM)(1) for only 3 months.
c. There are no serious adverse reactions with both the products.
d. 8.6% of patients from Sculptra(R) group are noticed with the product related papules (restricted to injected site) compared with 3.4% of patients from CosmoPlast(TM) group.
