medical-roll-cit-procedure.jpgThe latest entry to treat severe acne scars is called the Medical Roll procedure. The procedure is developed by a South African plastic surgeon and involves using a needling device called Medical Roll-Cit™. The device is rolled over the deformed skin & it penetrates through the epidermis. There is a no removal of the epidermis and the injury, minute as it might seem, does cause some localised damage and bleeding. Percutaneous induction of collagen results from the natural response to wounding the skin, even though the wound is miniscule.

The Medical Roll procedure is done with local anesthesia and mild IV sedation and takes about 30 minutes and recovery is complete in about five days.
